Great North Museum: Hancock

Great North Museum: Hancock

We are delighted to welcome the Great North Museum: Hancock as a participant of the WanBel global project.

The Great North Museum: Hancock holds an important collection of works from Papua New Guinea, including several masterpiece malangan masks and carvings of striking artistic and cultural significance.

For WanBel the museum has created a new exhibition Celebrating WanBel of exceptional highlights and masterpieces from its PNG collection in the Spotlight Space gallery alongside the World Cultures displays. Here the presentation allows visitors to engage directly with the creativity, knowledge systems, and spiritual traditions of Papua New Guinea in a global context.

Through this display, the museum demonstrates its long-standing commitment to showcasing cultural heritage in ways that spark curiosity, enrich learning, and encourage dialogue across communities.

“Great North Museum: Hancock is delighted to contribute to this global exhibition and take part in honouring Papua New Guinea’s cultural legacy and artistic wonders.”
