Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery
We are delighted to welcome the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery as a participant of the WanBel global project.
The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery (RAMM) in Exeter holds a focused and significant collection of artworks and objects from Papua New Guinea. Among its highlights are an exceptional Elema eharo dance mask and a striking contemporary Engan sand painting by Watu Lopo, works that together reflect the depth, creativity, and continuity of Papua New Guinea’s artistic traditions.
Displayed within the World Cultures gallery, these pieces are presented in a way that situates them within dynamic global conversations, underscoring the museum’s commitment to careful stewardship and meaningful cultural interpretation. By combining historic works with contemporary voices, RAMM affirms the ongoing resonance of Papua New Guinea’s heritage in today’s world.
