SoLOMON Islands National Museum

We are delighted to welcome Solomon Islands National Museum as a participant of the WanBel global project.

The Solomon Islands National Museum preserves a valuable collection that reflects the shared history and culture of the Melanesian region, including traditional objects, ceremonial artifacts, and archives documenting historical and cultural relationships with Papua New Guinea.

The museum's commitment to the preservation, research, and ethical promotion of local cultural heritage is a vital model for safeguarding the cultural expressions of the Solomon Islands. Its contribution to the transmission of both intangible and tangible heritage helps to enhance knowledge and respect for Pacific heritage within the WanBel project.

“We mark the 50th Anniversary by putting out a PNG Sepik Mask into our public exhibition gallery as symbol representing PNG people- cultural identity with another Melanesian brother.”
