Horniman Museum and Gardens

We are delighted to welcome the Horniman Museum’s World Gallery as a participant of the WanBel global project.

The Horniman Museum’s World Gallery, shaped by Frederick Horniman’s original vision to “bring the world to Forest Hill,” presents outstanding works from Papua New Guinea within a global setting. These collections highlight the richness of PNG’s cultural heritage while situating it in dialogue with traditions from around the world.

With a strong emphasis on community engagement and a celebration of human creativity and diversity, the museum has developed an internationally significant collection that reflects both the depth of Papua New Guinea’s cultural traditions and the importance of collaborative approaches to research and display.
