Massim Museum and Cultural Centre, Alotau
Rooted in Milne Bay, the Massim Museum and Cultural Centre plays a vital role in sustaining and sharing the cultural richness of the Massim region. Through its collections of masks, canoe carvings, ceremonial attire, and contemporary works, the museum offers a living portrait of seafaring traditions and community life. Exhibitions such as Rise and Fall of Samarai and Milne Bay in WWII reflect a curatorial approach attentive to both historical depth and local perspective. With strong ties to artists, elders, and international partners, the museum affirms its place as a space of cultural dialogue and shared memory
The museum is in the centre of Alotau, capital of Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea and is an initiative of the MASSIM Cultural Foundation Inc.
