Musée L Louvain
Musée L Louvain
We are delighted to welcome Musée L as a participant in the WanBel global network.
Musée L is the University Museum of Louvain, part of the Université catholique de Louvain, one of Europes oldest universities. Opened in 2017 in the renovated brutalist modern former science centre, the museum has brought together a diverse range of collections of art, science and nature. As part of the university the museum is both a public museum and a teaching and research centre.
The museum’s innovative displays combine works of art from different places and eras with science objects and natural history specimens to create a dialogue and unusual encounters which tell us about the world and our humanity.
The museum has a focused Papua New Guinea collection with the Sepik especially well represented. A selection of works are on permanent display and others have featured in temporary exhibitions, such as Art & Rite. The Power of Objects in 2021
