We are delighted to welcome the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia as a participant of the WanBel global project.

The Museum of Anthropology, guided by its mission to advance understanding and appreciation of world cultures through stewardship, research, and public engagement, holds an important collection of works from Papua New Guinea. Highlights include remarkable New Ireland and Sepik masks, alongside contemporary creations such as bilums and a painting by Pax Jakupa, all reflecting the region’s artistic vitality and spiritual traditions.

Through exhibitions like In the Footprint of the Crocodile Man, the museum has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to documenting, preserving, and presenting the cultural heritage of Papua New Guinea, while highlighting its continuing significance in global conversations.
