The Hunterian, University of Glasgow

We are delighted to welcome The Hunterian at the University of Glasgow as a participant of the WanBel global project.

The Hunterian preserves a significant and focused collection of Papua New Guinea objects, most notably the Turner donation of 1910, which reflects the diversity and richness of the region’s artistic and cultural traditions. This collection highlights the museum’s longstanding dedication to documenting and caring for the cultural heritage of Papua New Guinea.

Guided by a mission to preserve and develop its collections with innovation and critical engagement, The Hunterian strives to create meaning and relevance for academic, museum, and civic communities alike. Its commitment to being both ethical and accessible ensures that the museum remains an important space for exploring global heritage while critically addressing the legacies of its collections.
